Cynthia Welsh (USA: AZ) (2008/09/18): I must admit that I bought this book (at the thrift store) because I liked the picture on the front of a cozy front porch with wicker chairs, rose blossoms, and a puppy. The title lead me to believe it was going to be a straight chick lit book. However, this books proved to have much more depth about the way women cope when changes beyond their control are suddenly thrown at them. The characters were unique and not over the top as I have found recently in some novels set in the South. The main character, Bonnie, names her new puppy Ganesha after the Hindu god for overcoming obstacles. Certainly, the book is a tale of women who don't let obstacles stop their forward progress.
