Stephen Edelman (USA: FL) (2006/12/07): A mixed bag. The author has several threads (individual stories) laced throughout the book. The one thread I liked concerned a father telling his daughter his experiences in Lithuania during the Holocaust. Periodic interludes are graced with songs played by the Midrash Jazz Quartet (the name is the best part of the sequence). In short, in my opinion, this is not a wholly successful effort, but within the whole are some very well written parts. Paperback in nearly new condition.
