Staci (USA: TX) (2008/01/30): One of the best books I read last year. If you like history from a personal perspective (i.e. through the eyes of those living it) this is definately the book for you. Don't let the hermaphrodite and incest themes turn you off. Both play only small parts in the story and have little to do with the book as a whole. Honestly, the hermaphrodite aspect sort of felt "thrown in" at many points, but it did make for an interesting play on words as Middlesex is the name of the street they eventually move to in the narrator’s childhood.
Mary Ellen (USA: PA) (2008/07/23): This was a great book. It was well written and a fascinating story. I agree with a previous review -- don't let the subject turn you off.
mandarin776 (USA: CO) (2008/09/24): Interesting
Samantha (USA: IL) (2010/05/06): I was absolutely riveted by this book. I kept putting off reading it because the description didn't really capture me - but once I got going I couldn't stop. This is a definite recommendation!
mrsbrush (USA) (2012/05/22): Great writer, interesting story but can't say I was totally in love with it like some people.
